    Default Gassless mig / Porosity

Hi, I'm welding with a gassless mig setup and I'm getting a lot of what appears to be porosity ( holes in the weld bead).

I have only noticed this problem since I got a new coil of wire the brand is Xcel- arc. The steel I'm welding black angle 30x30x3mm it is not rusty but I haven't removed the millscale.

Wondering if any one has struck this problem and has a likely cause.

    Thanks Pete.

    Default Gassless mig / Porosity

Not had any experiance with "gassless migs. Lots with solid wire and fluxcore (still have a shielding gass) and with the lincon flux cored process (LN8, LN9 LN22 ect) which dont have a shielding gas.
Porisity is usually caused by gass problems, dirty ,oiley ,rusty parent metal. I have had problems with porisity with The lincon inershield with either wire with rust on it, and once with a bad batch of wire that had inconsisent flux inside the wire. Mostly it is caused by dirt, rust paint ect.
    Hope this helps.

What Kevin-R said basically, look for dirt/oil/rust. Mill scale should not be too big an issue unless there are larger than normal amounts.
Failing this, look at polarity, and faulty wire, (inconsistent flux etc).
