hardened shaft repair
Hi all, i have an Ozito brand multi head cordless tool, and the chainsaw head component suffered a snapped drive shaft due to a slight kickback. the internal components look like reasonable quality, though badly designed in not having some shear point in the design. anyhow….i am going to try a tig repair and just after some reassurance that it is possible. what filler rod would be best. i have 316L stainless and comweld high test or woul something else be better. i have ground the ends to a V in preparation and just awaiting some encouragement. it is only a home use machine but would be a shame to junk it. shaft is approximately 8mm dia.CBB8870E-E8FF-4C4A-A8E1-84B2B04CAC23.jpg483BF918-F11B-44A4-9A47-07D4FCEEE08C.jpg
