HF start box plans
Hi all,
A while back somebody was looking for the plans to a High Frequency start box.
This is a unit that attaches to an AC Transformer welder and initiates a non touch arc start .
A typical application is for a cheap Alumium TIG welder.
It does require a good deal of electrical knowledge so the usual safety admonitions about electrical safety and regulations apply.

That was me - thanks Grahame.
I think I already linked to that site as that was the one that I used to build it in the end. More discussion was in the thread I created here and the one I linked to on CNCZone.
We've only just got argon again after nearly 2 years of no gas, so I'm going to try it out ASAP. (I have tested it in air without welding current - works. Tried it in air with welding current and it sort of started an arc, but the tungsten went black and everything smelled horrible. Note I wasn't trying to weld, just see if the HF collapsed under welding current. I will try it with gas soon.)
