Happened to be watching a YouTube video on aircaft restoration and saw that they are now using Laser Welding, to be able to repair/recondition components that are worn to the limits of viable repair. They're doing this as a lot of components are quite rare and/or unobtainanum, hence the process. It's viewable at around the 2.30 mark.
