Just got my Lincoln 180c -Not Good!!
Just had my Lincoln Power MIG 180C delivered.
Opened the box and the chassis is twisted!!! Grr...
The shop denies liability and the freight Company denies liability.
Not Happy, Jan!!!!
The box it came in had no damage on it, so I can't blame the companies for denying it.
Contacted Lincoln Electric Australia and they are looking into it.
I'll keep you informed.

Not good. I think the best part of a new purchase is when you get to open the box and smell the nice manshed equipment smell. I am sure Lincoln will look after you. I am suprised however the supplier that sold it decided to flick you off so fast.
Cheers
John

Thats bloody disapointing isn't it. It sounds a bit Sus when the Box has No damage. As all Goods that have a Serial Number normally have a Serial Number Sticker on the Outside of the Box that they come in. It would be wise for You to check that the Serial Number on the Outside of the Box actually Matches the Serial Number on the Welder. If their is No Serial on the Box, I would quizz Lincoln as to whether their should have been an outer Serial Number Sticker on the Box. Basically this should prove as to whether the Item was Damaged and then Repackaged. I hope it gets sorted out soon.

Yes, I have checked the I.D. Label on the outside of the box; and it matches the welder's serial number.

That is really bad of the seller not to even help you and I know how frustrating for you it would be.
I ran into a similar situation with a BBQ (I know not same but same principles still apply).
I first posted photos and details on BBQ forum. The manufacturer saw this and acted straight away. In the end I got a whole new unit and was allowed to keep the damaged one (which i fixed to be fuctional).
Put some photos on here, get in touch with Lincoln Electric in Aus and send them a link to this thread.
I am sure they would rather try and help you out instead of risking the bad exposure.
Let us know how you are getting on. Surely even if you offerred to pay freight (even though you shouldn't have too) they could exchange it for you??

So, update.
It has taken a week for the shop to take the machine back, so they can "assess my options"
This only occured because I contacted Lincoln Electric to explain the situation. They also thought that it was bad of the distributor and contacted them on my behalf. I think that it would also reflect badly on Lincoln.
I did a bit of research and found that from 01/01/2011 the Department of Fair Trading introduced new laws for all retail shops.
If a product is found to be faulty or not fit for it's intended use as advertised, then the reailer must either: Repair,Replace or Refund the product.
So hopefully I don't have to take this route

A replacement 180c arrived today,
I'm very happy now.
Many thanks must go to the staff of Lincoln Electric who went in to bat on my behalf.
It's refreshing to know that a manufacturer will stand by their product and have such good support for their customers.
I will recommend Lincoln Electric to everyone, just based on their customer service!!
(Excellent Welder's, Too)
No Thanks, to the shop I bought it from, though. (AxxxHoles!!)

Great to hear the results worked out for you. Sadly a tune I've heard so many times before; the manufacturer will be quite accommodating, but you'd swear you were asking for the retailer to give up their first born son rather than stand by a product they've sold!
Now, let's see some of the results off your new toy

Am I allowed to name-drop?
They are a "National Welding Supplier" (Hint-The Names in there!).
The Website has no return info or warranty details, but the stuff they sell on E-bay has a no return policy.

Disappointing, Dirtpig. Not the way to get a new welder. I had a 180C. I upgraded to a Kemppi, but found it a great little welder. What in earth did your supplier think that you had done to damage it like that? Obviously it was damaged in a warehouse or something.

I saw on the net that the kemppi has a new minarcmig 200 a step up from the 180. Maybe they want to be on the same playing field as the new esab caddy c220i.

So, I've had a dedicated 15amp power point installed. (Cost- $485 Included about 10 mtrs of conduit).
And here are my first beads:

I've got a question.
What is the oxidation caused from? (Brown stuff)
Using ArgoShield lite. Not enough gas coverage, perhaps?
