A little aluminium project
Geeez it's been quiet on this forum lately!
Anyway, here's a few photos of the latest project to keep things rolling: some custom fish net frames.
[6061 aluminium, 5356 filler, TIG ~120 amps]. I should've cleaned the metal beforehand, so I was using a bit more AC balance than normally necessary. Apart from that - a fun little project.
Cheers

They look great Mick.
I need to get myself one of these. Do they use custom netting or off the the shelf size net?

thanks... the netting is the hard part as we wanted very fine mesh (say 5mm holes) and haven't found any off the shelf ready made mesh pockets. If anyone has seen anything that might be suitable I'd love to get some details - I'd make the next batch of frames to suit. In the meantime it's a case of stitching up a variety of materials as prototypes to see what works.
Cheers

They look fabulous, nice and sturdy, I have been thinking of making something like that for myself, just hadn't decided on a design. Your welding looks pretty flash too, clean or not, thanks for the pics.
