Machinery ramp help please
Hi all.
I just purchased this little digger, now i blew the budget bigtime on this one so alloy load ramps are out of the question for a while, I will have to make a steel set which will be 3mts long X 450mm wide.
The digger is 1.7ton so i am thinking 100x50 RHS rails and 50x5 angle for the treads, has anyone built a set and what thickness RHS would you recomend.
Thanks
Whitey

How high do you need to get it? If it's going onto a trailer you should be able to get it on without ramps.
Very jealous by the way - those little machines are great, although a bloke I know who owns a 20 tonner refers to them as "pipefinders".

Hi Rusty, my tipper is around 1200mm to the floor of the bin, a little less tipped up a freckle. Yep it's a good one a lot more than I was going to pay but will be worth the extra $'s down the track.

If it's going on the back of a truck then yes, 1,200mm is probably a bit too far to try and use the load-itself trick.
I use some steel ramps that my old man made up from angle - from memory the sides are 75x75x5mm but I'd have to check. They are mighty heavy tho.
Like the inclusion of the ripper in your collection of buckets.

75x50x3 RHS and 50x3 angle or 30x30x2.5 RHS would do the job easy.
Cheers
