    Default metal corp welding rods?

these seem to be on special at the moment 2.5kg for $15 or 5kg for $25

Or is there a better option for cheap welding rods?

Yes, buy the named welding rods, I tried that and found that there is a world of difference between the cheap and expensive rods.

    Hi,
Is it Metal Corp the Aussie providers of merchant bar and structural steel, or is it a some Chinese Company who have habit of adopting very familiar commercial names that we Aussies are familiar with.

Look for standards on the packet like Lllyods or Us or British standards .

If no standards ,you can almost count on them not being up to standard.

At that price I don't you can do that much harm using the rods.
If they are being sold under the metal corp banner you can always take them back if they are super awful.

My gut feeling is they will be ok probably being made their specs.
If you have an inverter i don't think you notice the difference between them and some of the other dearer ones

Let us know either way. I took some of my ebay purchases in to school and they kids don't seem to have any probs running them on the Cigweld 130i or the Cigweld 400 I.
