MIG Dwell Time Setting
I use the Mig infrequently. I do not understand the dwell time switch. In simple terms what is it all about; when do I have it on; when do I have it off? How is the setting determined ie. the 1 to 9.

The dwell setting is used when you're doing spot welding, in other words only use it when doing spot welding.

I think you'll find dwell time is for stitch welding, its the time between the spots(which is the weld time)

Of course the machine has also got a "Weld Time" control knob in addition to "Dwell Time". I use the former for spot welding but still unsure about the dwell time.

Its for stitch welding, a line of spot welds if you like. Hold the trigger down and you'll get "weld time(a spot weld)" "dwell time(the time between spots*)" "weld time" "dwell time" "weld time" "dwell time" etc etc etc
I've never found it useful, though I can see it could be if you were doing the right sort of work.
