multiplaz
I saw this advert for a gasless welder/cutter that runs on water called a multiplaz
It must produce hydrogen/oxygen mix to work
has anyone got one and can do a review ?
I'm very sick of paying bottle rental. The last set have lasted 3 yrs and still going but nothing will do what oxy will do

I saw that ad in the AllTools brochure as well.
There are some videos on Youtube, search for Multiplaz, and there is a review (although it reads more like a sales pitch).
Multiplaz
It appears to be made in China (although a Russian invention) and uses "alcohol" for welding. In the review it states he used isopropyl alcohol, would be a tad expensive, but anything containing at least 40% alcohol would do (think metho).

The above says it all really.
Until you find a fuel gas that will burn with oxygen to produce a flame temperature equal to or hotter than acetylene, you are stuck with what you presently have.
The review DIDN"T say what I would want to hear and only just stopped short of offering the obligatory free set of steak knives. It lacked any specifications and genuine proof of what it said the system achieve.
It was big on the claimed capability and short on factual information, so be very wary.
The hydrogen generator thing bobs up every decade or so and still has a long way to go, developmentally speaking.
In any case ,if there is a big techno breakthrough ,I would think with the potential income stream loss generated by from the oxy acetylene sales and cylinder rentals, that the current major players would have an eye on this and buy into it.

Gidday
The technology is already here fellas has been for quite a while now check this out:
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzJZJjo9MNA"]YouTube - Water as Fuel[/ame]
Problem is some fat guy with a smirk on his face smoking a cigar worth $10000000000000 buys up the patients technology and/or company then shelves it.................WHY?
So we remain reliant on fossil fuels/present technology and he can make another $100000000000 the next year
Makes you wonder why one of these units arnt in every Fab shop round the world
If you need convincing I did a quick google search found the company webpage here:
http://www.hytechapps.com./news.html
N surprise surprise things seem to have suddenly stalled in 2009 with no updates to their webpage!!!!!! Im not sure if this technology is the real deal but makes you wonder why it hasent been further developed!!!
