Neat Little Welder
I was helping out a neighbour yesterday sort out a little Toro diesel mower when we discovered a bit of flat bar across the deck had cracked off. He ran off and came back with a little gasless welder, which I believe to be this one:

It was running off a 30m, 10A lead and it laid in a nice hot weld. The gassless wire left a bit of a mess, but easily cleaned up with a wire brush.
Impressed with the simplicity and portability of the unit, I wend hunting for something similar and stumbled across this:

So went and got one, added a roll of wire from Bunnings, used its auto settings where you specify wire and material thickness - in my case 0.8mm wire with 3mm steel - and it laid down some very nice beads. When you finish a weld, the display shows the amps, which is kind of interesting, typically around 118 to 127 amps in my case. A single-sidded fillet bent over from the non-welded side saw the joint hold up just fine.
The duty cycle is kind of dreadful at max amps - 20% at 130A, but for field repairs and light fabrication it'd be fine.
Anyway, a handy little addition to my welder collection. My next welder was going to be a slightly more expensive pulse MIG, but unfortunately the one I want is out of stock for a while.
