Who buys welding supplies online?
Who buys welding supplies online?
Stuff like contact tips, nozzles insulators, arc welding electrodes, mig wire, tig rods etc?
I'm just wondering if there are many people that buy there welding supplies online?
And if so why? Is it Price, availability options etc.
Maybe you live out bush and everything needs to be posted anyway?
Is it for DIY / Home use
Are these for smaller orders once every few months?
Or for Trade/business use
Or do you buy online for use in a welding or fabrication shop, as in larger more regular orders?
Last option is no, I don't buy online at all
Is this because of price?
Scared the freight or postage might cost too much?
Don't trust buying online? Might get ripped off?
I'm just looking at how many people actually buy welding supplies online, or would they buy online. I know items like printer cartridges would be very popular to buy online. But I don't know about welding supplies.

Do you have any particular flavor in rods?
What band saw did you get? for metal? I'd like to get one of their smaller ones for at home.

I currently use E6013 and E7014, but i've got my eye on some E6011 rods for when I weld up a frame for an offroad buggy.
I got myself a horizontal bandsaw (also has a vertical mode operation) from Hare & Forbes,
https://www.machineryhouse.com.au/Pr...stockCode=B003 . I considered cutoff saws and found that the cheapest bandsaw was about the same price as a metabo/makita cutoff saw, then spent a little more money and got that unit. I have only used it for a few test cuts so far and it seems to cut quite well, its not overly speedy but does a nice clean cut thats relatively cool. You will definately need to get something for measuring angles so you can make sure the blade is 100% accurate as the degree scale isnt accurate enough for my liking. My unit will also need a little adjusting to get it all setup and running just right. But what do you expect for a $650 bandsaw !!

Another vote for bobthewelder.com.au -- big improvement welding crummy hardware store SHS with the 1.6mm rods I got from bob.
As a weekend shedologist, I can't justify spending 1/4 my working time schlepping across town to a specialist (plus some of the serious suppliers don't even trade on weekends) when I can just order stuff online during the week.
Big vote also for places like mcjing.com.au (tools, but not welding) that typically deliver your order next day.--

Will have to give Bob the welder a try. First time I have ever seen 15 Kg in gasless before. Hopefuly the freight charge wont blow the price out too much.
Boss doesnt wanna cough for gas and cylinder hire, so I'm stuck using gasless.
To answer the question have only bought stuff online from one place so far.www.lockwoodcanvas.com.au
I will never be the person who has everything, not when someone keeps inventing so much cool new stuff to buy.
From an early age my father taught me to wear welding gloves . "Its not to protect your hands son, its to put out the fire when u set yourself alight".

Do you buy welding supplies online? Why?
I work 8 to 5 .Vendors not open o/side these hrs
If so, is it for DIY/Home use?
Mostly, but on occassion I do a pay jobby.
Or is it for Trade/business use?
No. I prefer to buy offline. Why? I would prefer to support local businesses, especially with bad times coming. When I buy online its usually that the local vendor has not got exactly what I need or want.
