Been Offered These 2nd Hand MIG Units - Help Please !!
Hi All,
I have opportunity to purchase one or two of these:
Lincoln Electric Invertec STT & LN742 Feeder
Cigweld Transmig 400 & 4R Feeder
Kempomig 3200 & Feed 400
Kempo Pro Mig 530
Which, if any is worth a look 2nd hand and at what price. They have all been used in a fabrication factory on 2shifts thus are good operational units that have seen lots of work.
The Lincoln Invertec is a 3ph unit but has a switch to change to 240v, is USA 3ph at 240v?
There are also several Froniuss units that feed from 250kg drums and can be used as TIG with the right additional parts. Also run coolant too. Apparently they are $18k new so if a circuit board was to fry, that would cost heaps for a casual user (last one was $2k to replace)
The model is Froniuss FK4000
Also, whats a brobo saw worth?
Thanks in advance.

First off, forget the fronius, repair costs will be horrific.
It all depends on what you want to do with these welders, all of which seem to be large industrial units. There are several different versions of the transmig for example, which vary in their quality of components and build quality. Kemppi are known to be a quality welder. Lincoln are another well known brand who have produced some absolute gems, but some dogs also.
Is this factory closing down, or re tooling?
You wouldn't want to pay too much for any of them, the transmig for example would be a $1000 to $1500 prospect at best unless it were to be checked out by a welder repair technician.
For all these welders I would try to find out who did the service work on these machines and talk to them or failing that, talk to and welder repair shop to get a ball park figure.
As to the "brobo" saw - what size is it? 3phase or single and what condition and features?

Thanks Karl,
The Froniuss is not on my list but the other more basic gear looks appealing.
The Transmig 400 (2 available) are both model #704685 with 4R feed.
The factory is closing down, so l'm looking to pickup the odd bargain even if to resell it. All machines are running 2 shifts so are in good condition.
The Brobo is actually a Thomas type. Prob 12inch blade at a guess.
Cheers

Do you have to submit a tender? Or will they give you a price? As far as the brobo goes, I bought mine from an engineering factory due to the owner retiring and payed 200$ for it. 3phase and in like new condition. I have seen second hand coldsaws sell on ebay that range in price from 200$ through to 2500$..
As for the welders, I personally would not pay more than 500$ for a secondhand machine that has seen 2shifts a day in a commersial environment.. If they are going to be selling the migs cheaper than that I would be interested in another one. 3phase is ok for me...
