Is this regulator & flow meter ok for argon?
Hi All
I recently bought a tig machine. I have this regulator and flow meter that I hope will fit argon bottles. Can anyone tell me if this is the right thread to suit the bottles?

It will fit the bottle
But its a very very old regulator
I would buy a new one I wouldn't like to have my face to close to that
when full bottle pressure is released into it

It may be a problem in some bottles like Air Liquide but I think looking at the age of it more than likely it will be a bit dodgy and probably leaky.

Don't muck around, junk it. Only reason I say this, is because all of the gas companies have increased the capacity of what the latest cylinders can hold which increases the pressure and there is a very increased risk of that gauge exploding on you, as it was origanilly designed for lower pressures. A lot of the older gauges were replaced at a discounted price when this was phased in, doubt you could get a discount now but you never know your luck, wouldn't hurt to ask.
Otherwised I'd say no worries, it would do the job but it may not handle the extra pressure from the increased pressure of the cylinders due to the extra capacity.Cheers

Is that for Argon or is it for medical gases?

Hi, Argon and oxygen have different desities so your reading will be out of whack a little. The flowmeter is quite old but won't explode, worst case will spring a leak and lose gas.
