I use a stainless steel wire brush at work to remove any surface oxidisation. It helps.

Whilst Ally tig does need to be clean and I do know people (peoples whose opinion I respect) who swear by hospital clean I've never needed any more than a linish. I prefer scotch brite but SS wire (not mild steel! ) wire brushing is also OK.
If you are first starting out it is far more likely that it is operator error.
Beginners add filler too early.
Poor gas coverage.
Contaminated electrode .
Incorrect electrode or filler diameter selection.
Give use some details ie
Type of joint
Settings
Filler
Electrode
Type of gas
Gas l/m
Joint preparation
Section thickness you are welding
They all contribute.

Sounds like a dumb Q but I have on so many occasions picked up some SS filler ....
