    Default Transarc 200 supply options

This is probably a dumb question, but I confess to not really 'getting' AC.

I have a dim memory of the old man saying the Transarc was 'a better unit on 415'. I thought that meant 3 phase. But reading the plate it says, supply: single phase. My current shed has 3 phase to the board. Is it simply a matter of getting a sparky to put in a single phase, 400v or 460v outlet? What would that look like? There's only 3 connectors for a cable coming in. But a normal 3 pin outlet carrying double normal voltage sounds dangerous to me. Or is it just a 3 phase outlet, but one leg is missing in the welder cable?

(Thanks in advance to admin for their concern for my safety.)

If you want 415v, you'll need to use 2 phases. While your sparky can advise on this, I'd imagine he should be able to fit a 4 pin, 3 phase socket for you (3 actives + earth). He'd then attach a matching plug to the welder and then change the connections inside, as indicated by the plate in the picture.

I'm guessing the 460v option is for rural situations where the supply is a SWER type and a 480v supply can be obtained.
