First off I'm a bad welder and I don't get enough practice.
That said I'm beginning to think that my vision might be a small part of my problem.
I used to be very short sighted but a decade ago I had Lasix and now while age means I now need night driving glasses and distance glasses in low light I also need reading glasses.
I've been using my existing reading glasses to weld and I think the focal distance may be wrong for welding. How close to the arc and the workpiece would be considered "normal" ?
At the moment it's a very cheap auto helmet and the budget is limited but I can afford a set of short distance specs if I need them. As part of that is there a tint that makes welding easier; like the blue tinted "flash" glasses I sometimes carry as backup skiing specs and which naturally I have misplaced [ I probably left them behind on my last ski trip to Falls]
Also thanx for having me here
