Two can weld a lot faster then one.
Got a project where I am welding some rail line together, and currently have over 400 4mm rods into it so far. It has been not the most exciting thing, rod after rod all 8018 ex gas pipeline rods, when I bought 700kg of them for ~$150 at auction.
Got me thinking about running two rods at once as I saw them doing on the youtube channel "The Jackson Brothers" when they were relugging a D11 bulldozer they got up to using seven rods at once.
The biggest welder I have is a 250 amp Unimig welder, but came across people connecting DC welders together for more output.
I have a little "200" amp rossi welder I bought years ago. It is one of those $100 ones, but it is impossible to kill even after I got it smoking from lots of use. It really maxes out at 150 amps or so.
So I made a twin rod holder, hooked the rossi and the unimig together in parallel (+ to + and - to -) and it certainly works. Plenty of power.
Makes me wonder three of those little "250" amp inverter welders hooked together could make you a big single phase welder, if you have the power to run them.
I also tested it air arc gouging. Works well there as well.
Although these days I am probably one of the few who still mostly uses stick rods.
I ran the twin rods in a straight line one behind the other. Going sideways did not work well as the arc is directed inwards towards each other.
This is two pieces of 25mm plate I am welding together. I gouged out the gap first and it filled in one go.
