Default welding gas for aluminium question

how critical is it that the gas be argon, i mean if you run out of argon can you just use some argo shield universal ttill your bottle is refilled and if not why not, what does the normal gas do to the weld or the metal,

    I am afraid not boys.

Argoshield universal universal has oxygen in it.Only a lil bit but enough to be a major PITA when welding Ali.

Sorry its either pure argon or and argon helium mix for heavier ali and you have the dough to buy it-taint cheap.
