Hey guy's i bought a motorbike a couple month's ago it had a engine knock/tap that i originally thought was a simple valve job that turned into a loose timing chain that has now turned into a big job

Someone has modified the whole engine they have taking out the balance shaft, modified the timing chain tensioner and machined the cylinder shorter by 4-5mm

This person has machined the base of the cylinder only and this has caused the timing chain to be loose and the piston is hitting the cylinder head, i don't even know how the bike was able to start when i purchased it!!!

Here is a picture i copied from the internet showing the base of a cylinder i need to weld the whole area and build it up 4-5mm can it be done with the steel sleeve in place? Would ve very costly to remove the sleeve than weld than install a new sleeve

Finding a second hand cylinder is extremely hard there are only 2 online and both in the USA one at $550

You can see my cylinder where it say's 249cm it's been machined below this

I want to use my EWM mig to weld it than have the local machine shop put it on their lathe
