1964 Parry and Son (Woodworking Machinery) book with price list
Hi all,
Today I happened to find myself going past one of those 2nd hand book shops, and thought I would drop in and pick myself up a Stenners catalogue from 1957 complete with a user manual for the Stenner ABM table saw (because sometimes I like to dream).
The guy directed me to the section for woodworking and machinery, and I found an interesting (or at least it was for me….I know geek) book, or is it catalogue of all the woodworking machinery that Parry & Sons (Tools) Ltd 325-329 Old Street London had for sale plus a pricing list for all the machines in the book from 1964 (in fact for some strange reason there were actually 2 copies of the price list).
Below are some pictures of some of the machines that I found interesting (with 1964 prices), although there is everything from masonry drill bits to the Wadkin Type 12in FD planing and Moulding Machine (£4695).
I was wondering if anyone knew if Parry and son put out an earlier book/catalogue (this one says first edition, but not sure if that just means 1964 first edition).

P.S. Sorry about some of the blurred photos (if anyone wants to read anything, but can't I will take another photo), and the fact that they are sideways (I was going to scan them, but didn't want to stuff the binding).

Parry's earliest edition was published somewhere around the 1950's, and retail for around 50 to 60 dollar mark, as far as I know they were published right up to the late 70's the later copies selling for around 10 to 20 dollars.
I have always been a big fan of The Cabinetmakers Diary, printed by Benn Brothers, it always showed a great range of woodworking machinery advertisements.

Matty,
Once again, some more fantastic and interesting pictures.
I am on the quest still to find anything more relating to the Stenners ABM, and now the Stenners MAE (spindle moulder, since adding it to the collection), nothing in the Parrys Woodworking Machinery 1964 (but I bought it anyway as it was $10 and it was interesting to see the 1964 prices). I was hoping that as the Stenners was built in 1957 that I might get lucky if I could find an earlier version of this book.
I know that you have already looked for information on early Stenners before, so I am curious to know if you did have an earlier version of this book or the Cabinet Makers Diary from this timeframe (that way I can knock them off the list of books that might have what I am looking for).
After you kindly adding the pictures from “The Woodworking Machinist” Vol1 https://www.woodworkforums.com/f163/stenner-156676/, I couldn’t help myself and I now own a copy of that book. After yesterday, my collection of Woodworking Machine books has reached 2.
Cheers,
Camo

Camo, Be careful what you wish for, I was in a second hand book shop years ago on holiday in South Australia and saw a 1920's T.Robinson & Son catalog, that was my first Catalog, every thing after that is just a blur, I won't say how many books and catalog's I have, but needless to say my collection would put a smile on any librarian's face.
"The Cabinetmakers Diaries' I think were printed more the first half of the 19th century, mind you Stenner had been going since 1875, but there is a good chance there is something in Parry's.

Hi Matty,
Thanks for the list, I will have to keep an eye out for them, and yes I am a bit scared (I could see how tracking down catalogues could become addictive).
Every time I see you help someone with some information or pictures of a piece of old machinery, I always ask myself, how many catalogues must you have.
Thank you once again for sharing your experience.
Cheers,
Camo
