    Default Antique tools in Brisbane?

I was wondering if anyone was aware of an antique shop in Brisbane or the surrounding area that specialized or at least tended to stock old tools. I've been to a few in Wooloongabba (which is kind of a weird hub for antique stores for some reason) but they mostly seem to view old tools as junk that they'll be lucky to sell. I'm looking for a place that buys tools knowing what they are and cleans them up for collectors or users to appreciate.

I'd also be keen to meet private dealers or people who do it as a hobby.

    Any feedback appreciated!

    Cheers,
    Luke

    G'day Luke,

Actually, there is a shop, on Ipswich Rd, Annerley, just across from McDonalds. Herbert St. is a nearby cross st.
I don't know what hours the old bloke operates the shop but it is an interesting place.
It seems his shop is so full that you can't get in, so he sets up tables of old tools on the footpath.

I'm fairly sure he opens early Saturday mornings, not sure when else. He has a buyer that scours markets and sells to him by the job lot for a fixed price.
When I stopped in, I picked up an incomplete Stanley 71 (I just needed parts) and a Mathieson wooden bench plane for quite reasonable prices.
He seems to do this more as a hobby than as a living, so tends to be reasonably priced, and still negotiable.

    Hope this helps.

    Cheers, Jeff

(Just realised this is the area you mentioned before - so you might know of this store anyway).

Thanks Jeff! This is exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. I will try him soon.

There is a couple of dealers that are always at the Caboolture markets. Sometimes the prices are a bit high, but you can be assured that there is always old tools there.

I've heard chook say there are many old tools at Beenleigh markets on the weekend, but have not been there myself.
