Antique wooden tool with chain
Hi, can anybody enlighten me as to what this tool might be.
The chains are 2.65m (8"9") long, the main handle is 240mm (9 1/2") and the 2 smaller handles are 90mm (3 1/2"). The arrows possibly indicate that it may be some sort of pull-through.
It's obviously a home made tool. The man who made this was a woodworker and general handyman.
Thanks in anticipation, Neville

Going by the type of chain it wasn't used for any heavy load or force. If you know what type of building it came out of that may give an inkling to its use.
My thoughts are it was used to open/close a vent high up in a ceiling or roof for ventilation of dust control. You say he was a handyman so he may have had a workshop that my idea could possible apply to, just a wild guess. The person who never made a mistake never made anything
Cheers
Ray
