Did any one catch the end of these catalog auctions on ebay ?
Some serious bidding here, i wished that I had of put more on some of them but the Lioness of Finance forbid it.
looks like some one cleaned up here, and I doubt wether we will see trade catalogues such as this some time soon.

Frank, I think the Value and interest in catalogs has been undervalued for some time, I am not surprised, also having seen auctions in the UK also reach these prices.

I had a crack at the Wadkins catalogs with the intention of scanning them. They went for way out of my budget and the same fella bought nearly all of them. There was a french guy bidding also, a bit of international interest.

I have got to say that I thought that the 1947 Wadkin catalogue was much better than the Bursgreen range catalogue that sold for three times the price. These came from a farm clean-up near Yass in New South Wales, where I bought a lot of his paperwork when he was retiring into town. His father and grandfather had run sawmills at Box Hill and further east of Melbourne, and that was when and why these had been accumulated.

Dale, I'm assuming that is a quote from the seller ?
The Wadkin catalog may be a better catalog presentation wise and for volume of pages, but from a collectors point of view the Bursgreen is still the more rare !
He makes the point also that the catalogs were from a collection, (father and grandfather and a saw mill in Box hill), makes me wonder how many chances left to purchase old catalogs like that again from another family ?
