    Default Parts for Bailey planes

Hello, I need a tote, knob and fixing screws for my old Bailey #4 and #5 planes, made in England. Can anyone please advise the best place to get these parts?

Also, what is the name of the guy who used to have a stall in the big Woodworking Shows, know for his tuning of planes and sharpening of plane blades and chisels. He also supplies the thicker plane blades. I need to get a couple of these blades

    Many thank for your help
    regards,

    Dengy

    Hi Dengy

Jim Davey still goes -- up to 2019 -- went to the big wood working shows.
Jim also used to make knobs and totes for Bailey planes.

    Would be worth contacting him.
BUT he lives at Falls Creek -- between Nowra and Jervis Bay -- and may have been impacted by the fires
    regards from Alberta, Canada

    Yep - not cheap!

If you are prepared to wait for the postal system, you can get things a little bit less expensive from the seppos - eg this FleaBay seller is a good source:
    https://www.ebay.com/str/newhampshireplaneparts
However the prices are still quite high - US$70 or more for knob & tote posted to Oz

You can get a fantastic plastic as a spare from Stanley - but probably not what you are after. (And you need to ensure that the parts are not metric thread)

If Jim is unaffected by the fires, you can get a knob & tote from him at reasonable price
Jim Davey - Woodworking Hand Tools - eShop - Sales - Planes - Replacement Screws and Handles

Mike at "The Woodworks" may have some of these in stock:
Hand Planing-Stanley Compatible : Set, Plane Handle & Knob, Rosewood, #PHW

Otherwise, your best bet is likely to scour the garage sales & get a beat up old plane for parts.

I tried to contact Jim via website and via email, but no response. I hope that he is OK.
I followed your advice and was able to find a #4 and #5 on Gumtree for $80 total, with good tote and knob. Waiting delivery
    thanks for that suggestion

    Gday,

I've ordered a couple of spares from here: https://www.thewoodworks.com.au/, for standard Stanley Bailey planes.

Good website for searching and worked well.

Just found them googling, but perfectly happy. I think the orders took a little while to get processed but it was over Xmas. They also don't process payments until they ship I think, so they don't take your money then sit on the order for weeks.

I did notice that with some spare sets, I was later able to find them same for cheaper on ebay but with quite a long delivery time.
