Carter planes
Does anyone know if Carter made a #3 ?
I have picked up a Carter 01 rebate, Stanley #10 copy but silly me I got too excited and did not look closely enough as it has a Stanley frog.
If Cater did make a #3 and it follows Stanley the #3 frog should fit. I don't like my chances of finding a Carter 01 frog.
Cheers

It just got worse... carter farmed out all their castings to different foundries and changed their patterns as they felt like it so the chances of finding a properly matching frog is even slimmer...
However; Stanley frogs are relatively easy to come by and if the one you have fits (or has been made to fit) then I wouldn't worry about it if the whole point of buying the plane is to use it. The Stanley frog will have been made to use thinner irons; thick Carter irons for a C1 will be as rare as hens teeth and if you do manage to find a Carter frog then putting in a Stanley or Record iron you'll probably find it will chatter like buggery due to the lack of support. See HERE for a very good article on Carters.Nothing succeeds like a budgie without a beak.

CharterC1
Thanks Chief
It starting to sound too hard.
It does have a Stanley #3 frog in it and an original C1 blade and cap iron. Everything is intact except for the frog.
I picked it up because it was "different" not really to collect or use as I have a Stanley 10 and 101/2.
I might just move it on to someone who has the bits or the passion.
Cheers
