Dawn Post Drill #611 - Missing accelerator
Morning all,
My right arm is feeling fine. That is the engine on my new Dawn Post Drill. It was laying in the dust in a shed for the last 50 years and I have just become its new owner. Also picked up a Dawn #10 Vice and a pile of other bits and pieces.
What I am missing in two parts. Number one is the Handle, which I am happy to make, and the other is the accelerator advancing pin on the top of the drive gear.
Here is what I have:

Here is the very attractive peice I am missing:

Any ideas where I can get an extra piece. Or dimensions that I could fabricate it from?

Hens Teeth.
They're like hens teeth I'm afraid.
If I can find time (when I do, the misses finds jobs to fill) I'll photograph and measure mine. At one time DSEL was looking to make a pattern to have some cast, but I think that fell through.
I hope you turn this into a restoration thread.

Happy to build the missing piece.
One end is a tooth that pushes onto wheel at the top. The other end is a weight to ensure the tooth reapplies itself to the nest tooth set.
Picked up a pile on the day. Wooden and metal hand planes, lether puches, Hammers and a Dawn #10 Sliding vice.
Here is the boot. Could not take more.

All the metal is soaking in Vinegar and will be cleaned up this weekend.

The Pawl.
I nearly forgot . Here are the photographs.

They're not very refined castings I'm afraid. Quite 'clunky' compared with the pawl on my Canadian Blower & Forge post drill.
I've done a rough sketch with measurements too - but it needs the attention of some twink to tidy it up (and someone's used up all the twink/correction tape in the house ). Tomorrow maybe.

Pawl Sketch.
I worked as a mechanical draughtsman for 19 years. I'm a bit embarrassed by this not-to-scale sketch - but I think it has all the principle dimensions (edit: nope - missing the hole diameter, which is clearance to allow it to rotate on a 1/4" rivet).

I don't know if you're intending to make a close replica, or just something to do the job. If it's the former, ask for any more dimensions you need (while I have it off the machine).
