    Default Preston rebate/shoulder plane

    Hi, I've this plane. It's a Preston but it's a bit weird as it doesn't have the E and P in the circles of their symbol and has "PATENT" stamped on the side under one of their symbols. Any idea of a date of manufacture. Internet says 1900-1930's.

    It could be a Record; Preston folded in the early 30’s and Record got the rights to their plane designs. Eventually they fully rebadged the ones they wanted to keep as Records but initially they just fiddled with the foundry patterns to remove the obvious Preston trademarks.

    Out of interest does the blade have any manufacturer stamped into it?

    No other markings. I got my partner to check as well, just in case my glasses weren't working.

    Sorry, Reread your message and looked at the blade. Very small stamp goes like E.PRESTON and SON, then underneath BIPM m​ FNG then underneath PATENT. On the other side D then 22 underneath.
