    Hi all,

see photos below of some repairs to some saw handles
that I think have improved them.

That’s really impressive. I didn’t expect that you would achieve such a good colour match, but at least in the pictures, you really need to look to find the transition.

    Kind regards,

    Lance & Matt,

I think I said in some other members earlier post about repairs,
that I'm only trying to restore item close to original shape and function
and not striving to disguise or hide repair.

Thank you for you kind words though.

    Graham.

Great work, what do you use to finish the handles after sanding?

    Hi Alan.

A simple finish I found is 3 coats of French polish or shellac,
rubbed back with 0000 steel wool between coats and finished
with Dubbin clear shoe wax, which also goes on the saw blades.

Any colour matching is done after the first coat, I have several stains
that can be mixed with the polish.

    Graham.
