Groovy 8C 👍
People, I visited the local markets and the local tool gent had this beautiful 8C for sale. As I picked up the heavy beast I looked at the price tag hesitantly and I was quite surprised.
The plane as you can see is in rather good condition with only some surface rust. Handle and knob are dark sweet rosewood and themselves are rather nice.
Check out the pictures.

That’s the plan, John. The handle feels really comfy.

Looks like a type 13 which puts its manufacture between 1925 and 1928. Ish...
Yep, it’ll be a really good user plane when cleaned up. Just be real careful with that front knob, the type 12’s and 13’s were the first to use the high knob but they would often split at the base, type 14’s onward have a raised ring cast into the base which gives the knob some lateral suport. If yours is cracked maybe replace it with a home-made copy and keep it as an original spare for if you ever choose to onsell it, or go proper retro and turn up a copy of the earlier low knob. Many people prefer the low knob anyway.
