Saw ID - Help needed - try 2
Hi Folks, just hoping someone can help ID this saw.
i think it is a butchers saw
blade length is 12"
Tpi is 8 (two peaks per tooth) , with no set on teeth
weight is 660gm , seems heavy to me
if it is a butchers saw can I file the teeth off and set some in suitable for fine tennon and dovetail cuts ?

It is a tenon saw but who knows what some saws have been used for. Spear and Jackson is a good brand. The sharpening is a bit one sided so I would file that off and start again. About 12 tpi would be fine for that saw. It is more a general purpose tenon saw rather than for really small dovetail work but would still be handy for most things with a proper sharpen.
Regards
John
