Any ideas on what this Is?
Below is a photo of an old tool I have from cleaning my grandfather's garage. I have no idea what it is. Does anyone have any idea?
Thanks

I would agree if the dome is made of timber. If it is metal, then unlikely.

He was a sheet metal worker by trade, but also a bit of a hoarder, so could be anything!

I would say it’s a dolly, for sheet metal. Place it on the opposite side of the sheet to the hammer and pound away to get the shape where you want it.

Due to its small size I’m leaning towards the sock darning mushroom...
But what is the head made from? Darning mushrooms were traditionally made from hardwood as they’re not usually subjected to a lot of heavy wear; this one has a greenish tint that looks possibly bronze?
If it is made from bronze then I don’t think it can be for tinware either; I’ve never seen any dollies or formers made from non-ferrous material.Nothing succeeds like a budgie without a beak.

I've only seen darning mushrooms with the handle immediately under the flat of the head, not extended like the pic.
I thought I'd seen a hat blocking tool like that, but googling threw up French flower making tools that look similar, and have metal heads.
Is the handle removable? Is that a screw in the ferrule?

The head looks to be cast metal, threaded on to brass. It is just a dimple in the ferrule, to hold it in place I believe.
