    Hi there,
I recently purchased a Stanley No 4 Made in USA, it appears to have rosewood handles and American made blade, the cap has Stanley inlay with an in bossed background, the adjusting screw has a coating of black plastic over brass nut. The tool is in excellent condition with no rust gouge marks and since I've cleaned and sharpened the tool It's delight to use , can anyone share some light on what year and approximate value .
    Regards Harley

    Hi Harley,

on type 17 planes made between 1942 - 1945 the depth adjuster was smaller and made either of steel or hard rubber.

Information from Patrick Leach's Stanley Plane Study

    hope this helps

    Graham.
