Default Ixion hand bench drill press

    drill press.jpgdrill press logo.jpg

In the family for at least 2 generations and still working.

Rather than trying to sell it / if no sale then take it to a metal dealer, this German made (date unknown) is FREE to a good home.

Not sure how to handle shipping, open to suggestions

This is an excellent piece of machinery. I have restored the same one. Mine was missing a few things and I had to make a new base. So whoever can grab this one is very lucky.

I just used mine today again. I love it.

Shouldn't be hard to find someone to give it a new home.

Please please please don’t scrap it, I have one waiting too be restored, unfortunately it’s base is cracked.

If you were anywhere near me I would shoot my hand up straight away.

They are a fantastic little drill, especially for people with small spaces.

    SAD Matt.

Hi SB. I would love to have it. Can it be somewhat broken down to post?

Yes, it can be taken apart. Base, stem, handle.

But what not everybody knows is that the flywheel is just a tapered friction fit and can be simply pulled off from the top. Maybe some gentle persuasion with a rubber mallet.

I am just writing this in case SB doesn't already know. He probably does though.

I think they designed it that way so it can be easier taken to job sites etc and the single pieces are not as heavy then.

    Cklett,

Yes it can be "flat packed". the parcel is too heavy for Australia Post to handle, so freight is the solution, therefore need to make a shipping container.

Mine was sent via Australian post, from Sydney too Melbourne.
I think from memory it came in under 15 kg, but not 100 percent sure on that.

    Cheers Matt.

    Matt,

Thanks for the tip. The entire drill press weighs in at just under 20kgs. Add packaging it is likely to be more than Aust Post weight limit of 22 kilos. (whenever I've sent heavy parcels via Aust Post it seems to take an age for delivery to be completed, where as with the freight company it is likely to be there within four days (Metro areas etc.,) )

Hi SB, just making sure. Mountain Ash had his hands up to take the drill. I was just volunteering some info.

Don't want to cause confusion. Although I am known for it [emoji3]

    Glad that’s sorted.
    Here’s my father’s.
Which my bro had, and left in a damp shed up northern NSW.
At least now I know if I don’t get to restore it there is interest here to save it.
