Default Jay Fay & Co Vintage Wood Turning Lathe

    Hi,
I would really like to get some advice on selling my Jay Fay & Co Vintage Wood Turning Lathe.
It's pre 1900's and in good working order. It's truly special and I can't find anything like this in Australia to compare it to.
I'm wanting to sell it as I'm moving to downsize.
It can turn up to 12 feet and can turn table tops.
It does have 5 horse power / 3 phase motor.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Hi.

I don't know that I can help with the sale, but maybe it's one of these?

Hi Keith, l have a later and much smaller J.A.Fay and Eagan wood lathe, my lathe would of been from a school or college and used for manual training.
What sort of advice would you be after on selling ? I'd be interested but I'm located way down in Melbourne.
    Best regards Melbourne Matty.

    Thanks for the reply Matty.
The advice I was seeking was to see where best to advertise the lathe & the price. I'm located in Maryborough in QLD, I was hoping to sell it by the end of February as I'm moving to downsize.
We could arrange transportation to Melbourne, but it is an extremely heavy piece of equipment. Thanks again, Keith

Thanks Keith, that's food for thought, I'd have to check in with the lioness, transport wouldn't be cheep either.
In your downsized plan, had you allowed for a smaller lathe ? Would a lathe swap be of interest perhaps ?
I'm afraid I'm a big fan of the US vintage machinery.
    Kind regards Matty.

Another big thank you to Gaza for sending the balance of the J.A.Fay lathe bolts, rests and faceplates down to me.
Unbelievably well packed, l could not get over how neat let alone how long it would of taken. You've set the bench mark mate, l will do my best on what l send up.
    Thank you once again Sir.

    Nice touch.

That would have taken me longer than making the box. Nice work Gaza.

Well, I've taken your logo, cut it out of the timber box, trimmed it up straight, painted the letters in red. And now it sits on a shelf pride of place in the work shop !
