It looks like everything is belt driven

And this is what the seller says .

" Old multipurpose machine. Lathe, drill press, reciprocating saw, spindle grinder, edge plane with auto feed rollers. Prime mover not supplied. Main shaft is powered by flat belt drive with V belt drives off main shaft for individual components. The machine is a fabricated, welded and riveted construction with castings limited to gear wheels, hand wheels, and chucks.

The lathe, band saw, hack saw and edge plane spin freely and are tight. The spindle grinder and drill press need to be freed up as they are both partly seized. Picture 2 shows the machine with all components in approximate position. All components are bolted and welded together to make one big unit.

Picture 3 shows a mystery component. This item is upside down on the pallet. It bolts to the lathe saddle over the tool post and has its own tool holder. It moves up and down via a gear set and hand wheel. I think it is a milling attachment.

The lathe has forward and reverse, auto feed and a coolant collection tray. The tail stock is moved via rack and pinion gears set and hand wheel. A four jaw chuck is fitted. I also have a three jaw chuck but am not sure how to fit it.

I have owned the machine for the last 10 years. It has been in storage for this time waiting for me to bye a property with a big shed. This did not happen so I am selling it. In my time this machine has not been reassembled or run. It has always been under cover.

There are some parts missing, shafts to power the edge plane feed rollers, and a shaft to power the mystery tool that mounts over the saddle. These can be manufactured easily enough by a machinist.

I have not been able to find any information regarding this machine as there are no manufacturers markings or ID plates fitted furthermore the previous owner had passed away before I bought it. If you know something about this machine please call me even if your not intrested in buying it.

Yeah Ian , It looks tike the sort of thing I would imagine an old coach building business may have had ?
I think I have read somewhere something like this being used like that .

Rob, I would not be surprised if it was set up for making cart wheels in particular.

Rob - what an interesting piece of machinery. Someone put many many hours into that one.

Reminds me of the mouse trap machine at the Powerhouse Museum.....a marvel of homespun engineering.

Wow that's a piece of kit for sure Rob. Imagine tackling it as a resto project, would 1 lifetime be enough. What about the missus? 'You mean it cost $500' I swear darling it was such a bargain!
