    Question Lufkin tape measure ID

Found a similar but smaller (50ft?) one online but no info just a few pictures.
One of the patent 1609852 filed June 25 & granted December 7 1926.
This was for the covering by metal plates and then a leather ect cover over that.
A bit squashed in one corner but it did easily pull out and roll up all 66ft (printed on the tape when you get that far)like it was bought yesterday
We are trying to find out who in our family could have bought it before deciding if it stays or goes.

Side note in 1983 I was in trouble for arguing in 3rd class that my teachers idea of 3cm was ridiculous ... someone learnt a quick lesson about inches and cms that day 😂

Universal was Lufkin's "budget" brand. This 66' steel measuring tape is fairly early, before 1940; I cannot find a catalog with the exact same (cheap) winding mechanism, perhaps reflecting the depression years.

    Cheers
    Peter
