    Default Old machinery Catalogue

I was going through a drawer in my shed and found an old MacPhersons Machinery Catalogue. No date but it was with an old workshop manual for a 1938 V8 Ford truck.
The Macphersons Catalogue had heaps of old machinery listed, mostly Macson brand but other well known brands. The disclaimer says the catalogue was published during a period of price fluctuations so maybe it's from around the Depression era or 2nd World War when things were scarce. They operated out of Sydney. Hers some pics if you're interested. Each picture is accompanied by a detailed description of the machine and its function/s.

Nice one ... Matty will be salivating if he doesn't already have it ...

I think he said the Macson brand was pre-WW2 (?) and Barker afterwards ... so it's pretty old.

Yea Thats very nice, I've dribbled over my key board too...lol
A 1934 McPhersons Catalog I think, Those older ones are getting harder to find.
Paul is spot on for his Dates as well, The actual Macson name was an Abbreviation of the McPhersons Name, Mac... Son, and was McPhersons original line of Woodworking and Metalworking machinery.
Noting also McPhersons were agents for J.Sagar of Halifax, England.
Sagar were one of the very early woodworking Machinery Makers in England Sagar around 1947 took over Bursgreen and Became Sagar/Bursgreen, then by 1956 were taken over by Wadkin.
Oops there I go again, sorry to rabbit on guys, Just love the history...
Thanks For showing Sheddie, thats one is Keeper.

Sheddie, I have seen these older McPhersons Catalogs sell from $40 to $80 even more sometimes, depending on condition etc.
Hang in there too Sheddie, keep active pushing that Hand plane and all your other tools too.

Paul, they were relatively light weight compared to Wadkin's range of machinery, try moving a ECA Tenoner, and thats the small one !!
Jack I have a 1951 McPhersons Catalog that shows the Sagar and Bursgreen Range of machinery.

ya my bad. I should know I put the history of bursgeen on OWWM

Wadkin Bursgreen came into existance in 1956 and the new designs started to appear almost immediately (although to be fair many Bursgreen designs date back to Sagar days, e.g. the UO and UO/S family of thicknessers and planer/thicknessers)

    Shedhand,
If you look at page 271 of your No34 you will find a Postage list dated 1933. which I think dates it pretty well.
A copy of No 34 sold last week on ebay for $36 plus postage! I had to pay $60 for a No33 copy (also last week) but was able to get it picked up! Interestingly each state office of Mcphersons produced its own totally different catalogue? The 1937 is the last one where this happened.
