    Default Mystery tool.

    Hello all,
At the recent HTPSWA tool sale one of our members had this mystery tool, unfortunately, with a part missing. Cranking the handle causes the beam at the top to rise and fall, at the same time a small-throw crank on the outside of the main wheel moves a link-rod back and forth. It looks like the vertical post out on its own should have a turn table on it which is rotated incrementally by the link-rod while the beam presses something down, but what? No branding was evident.
    Any ideas?
    Cheers,
    Geoff.

Perhaps part of some kind of piston pump?

Could it be part of an old industrial sewing machine?

Why is the post that the supposed carousel would be mounted on so tall? To me that would suggest the items that would ride in it would be quite tall as well. Does the indexing rod operate in sync with the hinged beam at a one to one ratio?

And if it does, does the link 'pull' the missing part on the up stroke, the down stroke, top of cycle, bottom of cycle or... ?
I may be weird, but I'm saving up to become eccentric.

    I think it's a food chopper.

I knew I'd seen that mechanism before. I sub to HTR. Well spotted.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

Well done Cklett, I'll let the owner know. Now all he needs is the container and the chopper.
    Cheers,
    Geoff.
