    Default Mystery Tools

I found these two items in the shed. I have no idea what the Gedore tool is used for and the metal container is a mystery as well. It's too short for welding rods.
Maybe someone on the forum is able to shed some light on what they are.

Well the long white thing with the numbers on it is called a "ruler". I hope that helps.
I got sick of sitting around doing nothing - so I took up meditation.

Mystery tools have got real hard of late. This is the second one in a few days that I have no idea of. All I can say is it dont look like woodworking.

    Hi,
Dose the sleeve on the front slide up and down and do the wires open up when it dose?
    Regards
    Hugh

If the wires slide back and forth, might be a bit stiff with age. But if they do I would believe that it is a profile gauge.

I take it there are no diesel fitters or auto mechanics reading this then? The Gedore tool is a carbon scraper. With the sliding band pulled back it allows the wires to spread around and conform to slightly curved surfaces; push it forwards and it gets stiffer. Read all about it HERE.

I have no idea what the tube would have been used for.

    Nice one Tiff.
I have to admit, my first inclination was how useful it would be to scratch that bit of your back you can't quite reach.

Thanks for that Tiff, one mystery solved.
I'll have to dig up a few more unidentified tools.
