Default show me your necklace tooling . Chain mortising ?

One of the chain and bars I got with My Stenner BL mortiser was one of the small gauge chains. can't remember the numbers for the 3 chain pitch sizes. I have never been able to run it though as it was missing the sprocket. had some one in the US quote me $150 for an old stock sprocket and thought it was to rich for my bottom feeder blood.

There was/is some tooling on the block up in the UK most of it old Reynolds Wadkin/ Robinson tooling, and i grabed this German necklace. I did the Buy it now as you just don't see these very often AND BEFORE I COULD THINK ABOUT. In fact i have never seen them come up . so for 75 GBP for the set i had to adjust my bottom feeder ways and click sold.

Any one know if that's a grease fitting or for an auto oiler?

bar looks real good to me?

any one seen or have any of the specal Wadkin doubles or triangle kits?

Looking for advice on handling this smaller chain tooling from users.

well how about a simpler question?

How the weather been. Here we have had a hard winter and the apple tree are flowering now. The mice have eaten the base of all sapling to make it through. they have been protected by the deep snow from the birds. All profound lessons to learn don't you think?

Hi Jack - likely contenders for answers to your original post would be Matty, Camoz and Henry (clearout)

Weathers been great down here. Autumn is the king of seasons in Sydney....clear skies, no winds and mid 20's by day, low teens by night. Just lovely.

    Jack,

I think you have made a great decision and purchase.

Unfortunately I can't be any help with your questions. I tried looking at some of my catalogues for other english alternatives, to at least give you some other theoretical options, but without success.

    Cheers,

Camo i did notice that in that Sagar tooling you posted in the great white north they only make mention of bars a sprockets and in only 2 pitches. One wonders if Reynolds had the patent and market for chain and all the makers had to use Reynolds?

Any one know when the 3 pitches were offered?

I so hope you are not insulted by them calling it art? at least there talking about it. We are so disconnected from making any thing any more. Art is the best title today.

    Jack,

I have 2 Robinson tooling catalogues, the series 14T & 15T which both have 0.54, 0.62 & 0.89 pitch. I don't have a date on these, but they both show guarding on a Robinson NC so I am guessing 1940's? (very happy to be corrected on this date). They are possibly not early enough to give an answer, but it is a start.

    Cheers,

    Camo
