Paint
Hi, i have an old SCM Linvincible 120C Spindle moulder which needs a little tidy up visually. Can someone tell me what paint was used and what you can use to re paint the cast body. The original paint seems really thick and anything you can buy at the Green Temple isn’t close to what was seemed to be used.

It's likely powder coated. Thats a baked on finish. There are places that can do it for you but no idea of the cost. A cost effective way is use a metal primer then engine enamel. It wont have the same look however.

The original paint was likely an oil based enamel sprayed over a a filler base. All of the cast iron machines I have restored were like that, and I find restoring that smooth texture to be the most time consuming. I think the T120 pre-dates powder coating. Can’t say that I have ever seen a heavy casting powder coated.

I use agrinamel for this type of use, e.g. machines, vice's etc. Designed for heavy duty out door applications, I would be very surprised if it was powder coat.

Thanks for the tips, I totally get Greg’s idea that finish seems a painful process and the finish is pretty impressive for how thick the paint seems.

Hello to all, does anyone know which collet type is used on the SCM L'invincible C35 machine? I can't find this information on the web or in the manual. Could it be ER-25 collet?
Thanks
Denis
