Pics of a few Wadkin catalogue covers.
Thanks to a little help from camoz I can now show a few of the Wadkin cats I have accumulated over the past 40 years or so.
The first the blue cover 1962 was in danger of being thrown out by my wife or my mate Mark's wife to dissuade us from our obsession.
The Austral one from when they were the agents and is possibly prewar, it has a M2195 phone number.
The Wadkin advertising brochure re users in Oz is dated 6/30.
The Wadkin full catalogue is numbered 188 and is very early, the PK is in it but also the PJ and PL.
I will post copies of the mill pics when I find them again.
Failing that I can drop in on Guido with the iPad and get some more.
H.

H, my Wife says that they all look the same to her.........
What a great collection of Catalogs you have, I am envious !
When I read this post I was very excited to reply, not a lot of talk happens in regard to Woodworking Machinery Catalogues on this forum, and it is a treasured subject for me.
I have not been collecting as long as you H, but I know enough to say that these type of catalogues are very hard to find, and when they do come up for sale, jump on them !
I hope I'm not stealing your Thunder here but I would love to show just some of the Wadkin Catalogues I have.......
This is a 1957 to 1961 Wadkin/Bursgreen catalog, Just finding a Bursgreen catalog, before Sagar and Wadkin took them over is like winning lotto, a very rare item !!
This is a 1945 to 1955 wadkin catalogue, and about two and a half inches thick with a heap of leaflets.
This is a 1940's Wadkin catalogue also two plus inches thick filled with Wadkin leaflets.
This is a price list cover but is full of leaflets from 1935 to 1942 and three inches thick.
This is a 1929 Wadkin catalog and one of the earliest I have, I also have a 1927 as well, but in very poor condition.
This is a 1940's Wadkin tools and accessories catalog.
This is a 1957 Wadkin Catalogue, it shows some Sagar machines as well, 100 pages.
This is a 1936 Wadkin Catalogue, 96 pages and all the main line up of machines.

Wadkin Catalogues
As a PK saw custodian and history buff; I would love to see catalogue cuts of PJ and PL saws if any of you have them in your older catalogues.
Cheers
Tony
PS Work on the EQ spindle progresses well but slowly.

It's fantastic to see these beautiful machines in the production lines but for me being a pattern maker the best is the pattern shop photo I haven't seen a pattern shop with so many wadkin's since I was an apprentice at tech. And they were absolutely marvelous to use,I wish I had the where with all to acquire some now..
Regards Rod.

Catalogue cuts
Matty
Brilliant! I am indebted to you;slaked my thirst admirably.
I have seen pics of the Oliver and Yates American twin spindle saws on OWWM but was not aware Wadkin had ventured into that market.
That tilting tabletop would have required some manpower to adjust.
The very early PK snaps show things which changed with time mainly electrical box position and dust chute outlet.
Once again ;lovely!
Cheers

Catalogue cuts Mk 2
Matty
What year catalogue did the PK cuts come from?
The table tilt handle is placed to the side and I have seen late(1950s) catalogue cuts with it in the same position.
My PK and Jacks also have the tilt handle to the front and I was trying to place the change. Maybe Wadkin graphics people were random in their choice of half tone images.
Thanks again

Matty,
Brilliant!!! Great pictures and a good read, I also didn't realise Wadkin made a dual arbour saw. I noticed you put in page 22 twice (on the table-saws), to test to see if we were reading and not just scanning.
On page 26, it says "This machine is the only British-built tool of its type", which I found interesting. Makes me wonder if the Stenner ABM was on the scene when the book was published.
Thanks again,
Camo
