Matt - there's no need to get into a bind about it. Just relax and stick to what you know.

I got home from work yesterday to find a message that I had a parcel to pick up at the PO. Today I picked up Matt’s well wrapped package of saws. No indication of where it has been all this time, but it finally made it to me.
I just finished unpacking the saws, now looking forward to finding some time to start the process of refurbishing them.
Thanks again to Matt and Paul for their generosity.

Absolutely the best possible outcome under the circumstances.

I just gathered them up off the veranda and took them down to the woodworking shed. Had another look at them while I had a nice ale. I picked up #8 ( very early Diston crosscut “ I’m almost awesome “ ) put a bit of a curve in the blade an gave it a tap with my knuckle, that ones got a nice ring .
I still have to buy some saw files. I stopped looking when it seemed the package was lost, so have to start over again.

Could the parcel have been delayed, while it was further “investigated”

    Just curious

    Cheers Matt.

Just had a look at #8 as I haven’t cleared out all the pics from my phone yet.
Ironwood that will make a great rip saw, plus plenty of saw plate left.

    Cheers Matt.

I received the set of Feteira files I ordered from Amazon.

    https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/product...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I can recommend these. I already sharpened one rip saw with one of the files.

    Agreed Matt

Looks like about 5ppi and a D8 from the first world war era (1896 to 1917). Actually I could more accurately describe it as Boer War to WW1. I would consider a new handle in, say, Ironwood.

While the shaping will be a little bit of a challenge I think it would be very worthwhile, very aesthetic and entirely appropriate.
