Default Roll up roll up free vintage handsaws

That’s right folks the score of the century for ya.
Yep absolutely no catch they’re free,
Their all orphans, some have been mistreated, some are just cranky old farts that society has chucked on the rubbish heap.
Some are tarnished Princess’s with a beautiful history.
There are old warhorses, with tall stories.
But, all of them come with a free smothering of oxide from one micron upwards.
You may have one or 50 plus.
Yes, folks you heard that right, 50( I need to confirm that number) bloody saws for FREE.
I really should have run away from home when I was 12.7 and joined the circus.

Ok ,ok, ok, what’s the catch come on Matt,
Seriously, there is no catch except every saw taken by you will cost $1 AU for handling purposes.
    O so that’s the catch [emoji55].
Ok $1 AU gets me or my lovely wife wrapping your saw in cardboard taking it to the post office and posting it to you( You will pay for the postage costs).
THE $1 cost will be for every saw you want, no if’s or butts or haggling( I’ve pre haggled them all for you already)
If you find that to tough ,I will PM YOU MY MOBILE NUMBER AND YOU CAN CALL ME AND TELL ME ALL ABOUT IT NEXT TIME ,IM VIEWING AN OLD SCHOOL PUNK BAND LIVE).

For people who want to pick up from Easter suburbs of Melbourne.
You can forgo the $1 package costs
    How nice is that!!!!
But you guys, if you tell me 7pm Tuesday night Matt I be there no worries mate an you don’t show.
An don’t tell me, saw goes back up here
No questions no if or buts.

Now some might ask how the hell Did I end up with 50 saws to give away.
Well I had absolutely nothing to do it with it,
Honest mum the bigger boy made me to it.
I didn’t wake up one day an there they were, I was just minding my own business just hanging out with me an my ego.
An i get an email [emoji854][emoji854][emoji854].
From a bloody foreigner, yep that’s right AKA Mr Bushmlllar from sunny Queensland?
I hadn’t even heard of this place called Sunny Queensland till he emailed me, I just thought you got too the Murray river an that was it,flat earth[emoji4][emoji4].

So Paul says Matt, can you drive down to this little sea side town near you, for me and pick up a couple of saws for me in a couple of small tiny little timber boxes I might be bidding on an win from EBAY.
He was cunning this one, he had used google maps worked out the approximate KM’S
Computed my driving style and told me how much my fuel costs would be ,and how many coffees I should plan for.
All the while making sure there was electricity for Sunny Queensland place [emoji6][emoji6][emoji6][emoji6].

All I can say is , he’s very lucky I consider the cup holders in my van the best ever.

So Paul won the bid an won 82 saws in various conditions, next Sally photographs every saw an sent them on to Paul.
    Massive job.
Paul has then type cast every saw. an after what I presume many many sleepless nights.
An very firm chats to him self selected 22 saws that he definitely definitely definitely needs even if he had to sell a child.

Paul then said, i an Sally could have any of the left overs well, Sally saw one saw,an said it was kind of cute but thanks Paul but no thanks I’m normal!!!!
I’ve been obviously more restrained than Paul an have chosen about 12 or so.
I’ will also be chucking in a few saws from my collection that I just won’t ever do anything with.
    So there you go.
Now yes, Paul an I have taken the good ones, but there is still some in there that would make excellent work saws.
Not collectable worth but still good.

Some are we’ll probably better being cut up for card scrappers.
But what doesn’t go I don’t know what I do with.
Some will just end up in landfill [emoji30][emoji30][emoji30].

Pics to follow and were talking LOTS OF PICS COMING FOLKS so my intention is to up load a few saws every few days.(Not try un crash the forum with over 100 pics)
    So keep an eye out.

Cheers Matt,Sally and of course Paul for his generosity.

See you read all that thinking nothing is free these days, well your wrong[emoji41].

Thanks Matt for generating this thread.

Perhaps I should point out that many of the saws "left over" were serious contenders when the original selections were made and only just missed out. For example, the back saw in Matt's first post will clean up well, but to my mind requires a new handle, which will absolutely transform the saw. This is an ideal opportunity for somebody thinking of entering the dark and murky world of handsaws to do just that.

    Regards
    Paul

I saw the thread title and I knew I shouldn't have looked.

The last thing I need in my life right now is another project, particularly one involving saws.

    I hate you guys

I'd love a set of back saws of different sizes if you have some in the pack you're getting rid of. As you know, I'm happy to sharpen/rehab/make handles as required.

    Kind regards,
    Lance

Hi Matt, would there be any small backsaws lurking in there? I’d quite like a purpose built dovetail saw; recutting teeth and making a new handle wouldn’t bother me unduly.

Hi Matt, I would like to jump on the bandwagon here. I have been using the Bunnies hardpoint variety up until now, and would love to have a set of users.
I would leave it up to you to select a set that would cover general usage, I don’t want to go overboard, but maybe 6 ?
Happy to pay handling and whatever postage etc. let me know.

    Hi Ironwood,
I would be happy to help you select say a cross cut, rip, an maybe a backsaw,
But in keeping a level playing field,an I don’t want to be seen picking out groups of saws for individuals.

So No I won’t pick a group an say there you go!
But I will suggest too you has saws come up this one or that would be great.
I drop your name in the description
But others may chin in an also suggest you may like this one or that.
For instance number 5 with some love would be good.
But do remember all these saws will need work an most of not all will need to be sharpened.

    Cheers Matt.

I'm going to respond to the thread so everyone can see the response.

Do you want PM for these saws or open messages on the thread?

As I'm already talking, I would like to take numbers 5, 37, and 35.

Thank you for the time you are very generously donating on this. A single dollary-doo is very scant compensation!
