Default STANLEY MITRE BOX 246 help

    STANLEY MITRE BOX 246

Does anyone have an old Stanley Mitre box?
I’ve just sold one to section1.

We are chasing this one screw.
Being Stanley Tools they have weird threads from memory.

    Cheers Matt.

I'll check mine tomorrow. I was missing another screw from mine, so bought a tap & die to make a new one. I'll see if they're the same size & try to make up a replacement. I don't have a lathe but should be able to make one up in the drill press with a file.

Just checked it & it's 1/4-24 UNS, but the tap & die I bought is the smaller 10-28 UNS. A quick Google brings up the tap & die you need for under $12 on eBay. I think Stanley used standard, but unusual threads.

It might pay to take the other one out & double check it, mine's a 1912 model, so there's a chance that one might be a more ccommon thread.

There were a couple of these for sale around Brisbane very recently for about $50. On Facebook maybe. Think the actual saws were missing but would be great for parts at least. Will post the add if I can find it.
