    Is anyone going that I can team up with. I'm not going to drive down there but if someone is going and can txt me pics of marples chisels that fit a very specific criteria... I can transfer money to them on the fly to buy them, and then we can work out the shipping later. With technology and it's speed these days, such transactions can happen over the space of minutes.

    Just a thought if someone's up for it.

    Obviously, I'm not gonna be too keen on someone that hasn't got much history here...

    Default New Norris jointer sold today

    The TTTG sale went ok, I sold off a bit of stuff.

    A new Norris jointer went for $2300 (Asking price 2500)
    He had another new one at $2k but that didn’t sell.

    A mate sold a half set of hollows and rounds and a half set of quirks? and was happy with the price he received.

    I was good, only bought or bartered for a roller skate key for my daughter,a Foundry book,a leather/copper deadblow hammer, a Stanley panelbeaters hammer and an Assegai spear.

    The kids sports stopped me attending this year, hopefully next time.

    Out of interest, how much did the two half sets from your mate go for?

    Regards

    Adam ,
    I hope you can make it next year, TTTG does hold small ‘club sales’ every 4 months or so at
    The Old Eastwood Town Hall which ‘members and friends’ can attend.
    I spoke to Mike after the sale and he was happy with the price which has slipped my mind or he didn’t mention a $ figure.
    I will ask him when I next see him and get back on this thread if it’s left open.
    TTTG has lots of moulding planes amongst a large stash of donated stuff they need to cull after the recent coupe.

    Hi H,

    Very keen next time one of the smaller sales.

    I'm not looking for even a half set, just a pair of no4s and no8 hollows and rounds to get started

    . I've read that for small to medium work that should cover most tasks.

    Regards

    Adam

    Went well for me! I didn't go. But Pat saw my request and obliged... He grabbed 4 Marples chisels for me! Thx Pat.

    It worked well, from my end at least. He sent a pic and I said yup, and how much. I agreed and the money went into his account in seconds. He sent them yesterday!!

    Thx mate!

    Yes, I am, guilty of contributing to the delinquency of another forum member.

    I did pick up a few trinkets for myself

    1 1/4 (28mm) steel infill shoulder plane

    1 1/2 (37mm) Brass Infill Shoulder plane

    Shoulder planes.jpg

    A set of 4 Perfect Handle Screwdrivers

    A Aluminium Handle Turn screw . . . perfect size for bench planes . . . I don't know if it is original or a franken-beast

    Stanley No 98 Mortice gauge . . .

    Opinel no 12 Carbon "pocket" knife

    Score.jpg

    The rest is outside, in the shed.

    Thanks for the reminder ClearOut. I heard about the tool sale through the NSW Woodworkers Association but almost forgot about it.

    Being cash only (note to self for future) I was limited to $100 but I still managed a small horde:
    * moving filister plane;
    * apron plane;
    * combination square;
    * mitre square;
    * 2 gouges;
    * marking gauge; and
    * mortise gauge.

    These were things on my "to get" list and not impulse purchases (that I am normally so terrible for). The prices and quality of the tools were top notch.

    Were this a review site I'd give it five stars.

    Thanks for the kind words Anthony.

    I’m in the unfortunate position of having run the sale for many years so am well known by most of the sellers, who are more than happy to sell me on barter or credit.
    I was very good this year but in the past have been unloading at home and wondering
    ’ why did I buy all this stuff I have a shed full already?
