Hi Graham
I know its six years later, and probably unlikely that you still own that Tanner table saw, but I have recently purchased what appears to be the same or similar model to the one you owned, judging by the picture you supplied of the underside of the saw at the start of the post. I am new to woodworking and whilst using the table saw experienced 'kick back' with a slice of ply hitting my garage door at some speed (luckily I am safety conscious enough to have been standing to the side of the saw ... phew!). I have got it co-located on an angle-iron framework with a Tanner jointer / buzzer and for safety reasons am concerned that the table saw is not fitted with any form of riving knife. I also have that funny angled off-set bar coming out of the side of the round / open saw blade housing and coming up at the out-feed end of the table where it then turns 90 degrees and runs level with the table and perpendicular to the blade. I was wondering if you ever worked out what that bar was for? When I picked up the saw (deceased estate) there was a round knurled knob located on it with a partial thread on one side and a securing screw through it so that it could be moved up and down the bar and fixed in place, but I would like to know if it was for some form of 'up and over' safety guard? If you get to read this post then I could supply you with some photos of my table saw for ID purposes and comparison with yours?
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards
MAT
