    Default Long time coming

Well people the Titan bible has reached proof stage and the go for printing is Monday. The books first outing will be the TTTG sale in late Febuary. What a saga. Three years all up of which the last year was editing and production. It has turned out terrific even if I say so myself. 320 pages full colour, 950 colour images, 50 tables and 104000 words. Get a life I hear you say! All I can say is that I enjoyed the journey but have been sent broke by the ticket price. Sample pics below.

    Hi Doggie,
What do think Your Book will cost, round figures, & approx. when it will be available.
3 years is a long time, so now what are you going to do ???.
    Great Effort.
    Regards,

    Thanks issatree
I am very happy how it turned out and it was a fascinating undertaking, especially the professional part of editing, layout, proofing and printing processes. No final decisions have been made on distribution and marketing as yet. I'm speaking at the HTPAA bi annual conference in March about the whole writing/publishing experience and I'm trying to encourage others (apart from those worthy souls who have preceded me) to have a go at the Garath Hack level about our Australian manufactured tools (before we are all dead and the knowledge is gone).
    Answers to your questions are
    1. $89 (not cheap I know but even so I will never get my money back)
    2. Mid February availability
    3. Start another book. Subject yet to be determined but will probably be about tools and me (two of my favourite topics).

Nothing in place yet so either pm me or contact the HTPAA. I'll have them by the TTTG sale in February and the following HTPAA sale in March. If anyone has any better ideas or better still, experience with this let me know. I honestly haven't thought this far. A couple of magazines have asked to review it though.

    Congratulations!
I look forward to picking up a copy at the TTTG sale.

Have you spoken to the wood tool vendors?
Eg. Henry Eckert, Carbatec, Carrolls Woodcraft, The Wood Works Book & Tool?
    They all stock related books.

Picked up the cartons (and paid the bill) on friday. Sent off a few to people who helped me and of course "maaaate"s. organised myself for the TTTG, Kyneton vanishing trades and HTPAA sales. Getting a few reviews done and despatched a few pre orders so I'm now in "sell them" mode. Bit of a change to endlessly editing and proofing. Decided on a price of $89 plus postage which won't get my dough back unless I sell a truck load but I keep telling my wife I did it for love (she finds that difficult based on her own experience of me). Any way the book seems to please those who have got one. And, rare Titans can go for twice that. I'll talk to those wood/tool folk you suggested. Anyone can PM me if interested.

my book turned up today. really well packaged.

Its a fantastic book even if you are not actually a collector and are just after information on titan chisels - its a wealth of information, great photos and advertisements etc.

    cheers

Thanks for that unsolicited endorsement Steve. Sales are going well and the wife is less panicky (She's sleeping most of the night now anyway). My next move is to take some to the TTTG sale in Sydney (Brick pit) next Sunday. I've flown up to attended it for the last two years as a buyer but this time I've taken a couple of tables and will hump a Prado load of tools up the Hume. Long way to go but a clutch of Sydney dealers aways make the trip South for the HTPAA so I'm returning the favour. I'll hopefully see some of you there.

Well, the book has been out there for a week or two now and a quarter of them have gone already. Maybe I was a bit shy with my estimates on how many Titan tragics were out there hiding in dark places. The TTTG sale was a real boost as well as a great day out. Next event is the "Kyneton Lost Trades Fair" (I'm on the HTPAA stand on the Saturday) and then the HTPAA Bi annual conference (giving a paper on writing a tool book) and thence the HTPPA tool sale immediately afterwards. I'm told there might still be some places at the conference if anyone is looking for a fabulous and interesting day. Other interests are a few reviews of the book happening and a couple of feature articles. So, its all been a bit of a surprise. Anyway I'm very greatful and look forward to any feedback from anyone who has read the tome. My wife has started to talk to me again too. I guess thats a win, right!!
