Have Titan will travel
Just picked up on a guy in Calafornia selling a Titan chisel among a bunch of other brands on ebay. I'm wondering how it got there? Ex Aussie or expat? Did Titan market them there? I emailed him "Whats a Titan chisel doing in the US" and he replied "Sitting in my garage waiting to be re-deployed". So I'm much chastened (after about seventy years of knockbacks you kinda pick up on little "-off" clues straight away) but unfortunately I'm non the wiser. Anybody got a clue?? Anyone found one anywhere else overseas (accepting NZ and PNG)? Please don't tell me to PO.

I mentioned once I'd asked Patrick Leach if they knew Titans in the US and he disavowed any knowledge of them ... but TobyC said they were known just as the english chisels are ... Sorby, Ward, Mathieson, ...

The travelling Titanberries
"Blood and gore" is a Stanley guy and Stanley did the job on Turner and Titan so I guess he would know if anything turned up. Maybe there is a Titan-Stanley connection?? Only twenty years of production (1946 to 1966ish) is not an impressive body of work in anyones language, especially internationally. Swedish bergs seem to have made a bigger splash though, perhaps mainly focussed on Canada (Beaver brand). Does Toby C know whether they are just "known" or were they sold as a boutique type tool.

Titan Stanley link
This is off the top of my head and there may be more accurate info already available here.
Titan was a BHP operation for making nails etc.
After the war they went into some sort of deal with Stanley to make planes, chisels etc in Tassy to employ returned servicemen?
There was also a Stanley importer in Sydney (UK products?) had a 60s catalogue see if I find it.
Stanley bought out Turner after the 60s credit squeeze and used their plane and screwdriver lines,moved a lot of production to Nunnawading in Vic.
I had a lot of contact with US dealers and collectors in a past life and Titan never appeared.
I did take some Oz high speed planes irons with me on one trip in the early 80s and bartered them for local irons at Fort Bragg whilst visiting Krenov.
The yanks were blown way with them but Stanley wouldn't or couldn't handle more production even for export so the same probably applied for chisels.There were so many better chisels already available maybe there was no reason?
The company was a bit like Ford run from the US with no local export initiative allowed.
